Competency Statement 3
To support social and emotional development and to provide positive guidance.
Functional Area 1: Self
One of my goals for the functional area of self is to promote positive self esteem. There are many ways to do this, but the main way is to make I plan assignments that are developmentally appropriate. If a child is challenged then they may loose the confidence in themselves. Another way I will achieve this goal is by setting an example to the children. I will show a positive attitude at all times, including when a child is misbehaving or has done something wrong. The final way I will promote positive self esteem is to carefully plan out activities that help the children get an understanding of just what self-esteem is. I will find book and different resources that will help me to do so.
Functional Area 2: Social
One of my goals for the functional area of social is to promote social development to each and every child. To achieve this goal I will plan activities that the children will have to interact with one another. I want to make sure the children interact with all the kids, so each time an activity is planned the children will be with different ones then before. The children will also participate in whole class games and other fun activities. They children need to do things where they have to work together. Another way I will achieve this goal is by setting an example for the children. I will be sure to be social with parents and communicate with everyone who is involved in the program.
Functional Area 3: Guidance
One of my goals of the function area of guidance is to provide as much assistance as possible for the children. In order to achieve this goal I will provide a significant amount of support for each and every child, parent, and staff member. I will make sure that the parents and children know they can come to me for any concern they may have and I will do my best to provide them the guidance they need to be as successful as possible.
